The key to our success is an integrated, holistic approach that combines trauma healing, conflict transformation and economic self sufficiency as well as a suite of services delivered at our Center and also in the communities we serve. We call this multi-layered approach our Wheel of Peace, by which people enter our community through different services, but once they become involved, they have access to the total suite of services we provide.
Typically, community members may first become involved through a workshop on one particular topic. This may lead to taking a workshop on other, multiple topics. Most importantly, once a member of a cohort, one has the opportunity to join a Peace Club which receives ongoing coaching from our facilitators, either at our Center or in the communities where people live. This ongoing work in the community is called “Home Visiting” although that may occur in the home or in public with an entire Club. Each club is given a gift to help begin an ongoing group economic activity. The activity of the club may involve saving, agriculture, animal husbandry or even cultural activities such as traditional drumming and dancing. This model is what creates sustainable change in the community by building a community of Peace Artisans.
