Volunteers We are a unified group of volunteer workshop leaders, mediators, trauma healers and community organizers. We are men and women from different faiths and backgrounds with a shared commitment to rebuild and fortify our communities to find a sustainable peace for every generation.
Our Coordinator is Pastor Habimana Augustin, ordained in the African Evangelical Quaker Church. Living right down the street from the Center, Pastor is an expert in reconciliation and trauma healing, as well as sustainable farming techniques.
Membership CBOPE Ihumure also includes a wide membership of approximately 2,000 community members who participate in our Peace Clubs. All of our members have participated in one or more of our trainings or workshops and have chosen to continue the work of peacebuilding in their own community. Each club has its own elected leaders who we call Peace Artisans. Peace Artisans often assume official leadership roles in their communities, such as Abunzi and other local leadership roles that embed the principles of sustainable peace into the fabric of community life
